The Next Day in the Cell

I woke up on the cold stone floor, my whole body aching from the freezing night. It had been horrible - the cold had seeped into my bones, and even with Amber trying to keep me warm through our bond, I had barely slept.

“Jane, are you awake?” Amber’s voice was weaker than usual in my mind.

“I’m here,” I replied silently. “How are you feeling?”

“Tired, but I’m still with you. We’ll get through this.”
