I watched her go, a smile plastered on my face, but I was fuming on the inside. I had a feeling she was lying to me.

Why was she standing up for that bastard, whoever he was? Why was she protecting him?

Did he have something on her? She had been jumpy the whole time, her eyes darting around frantically like she expected him to spring out of the shadows.
