WINTER

“Winter.” Loran’s voice rang out just as my feet carried me toward the man.

He was ready to drag me away but then the man lifted a hand, an unspoken command for him to stop. His other gesture dismissed Loran entirely and soon, I heard the fading retreat of his footsteps, leaving the two of us alone.

“You, I remember you now. We met at the bar before,” I said, the recognition dawning on me. “So that means this is the second time you’ve saved me.”
