Despite the continuous thoughts circling in my head, I couldn’t avoid going to dinner. I promised my dad that I would be there and I knew that if I didn’t show up, he would be worried.

I understood the concern in his eyes when he thought that I was sick. I was sure that he was remembering the early phases of mom’s illness. I didn’t want to put him through any undue stress. I had to show him that I was physically okay.
