Chapter Three
Three hours later, Arthurian Melvin surgery was successful. He was transferred from the emergency unit to the VIP ward.
Just as the doctor came out from the operating room, Kiera rushed to him. “Doctor, will my son be alright?”
Tears cascaded freely down her cheeks. “He is my only child.”
Moved by Kiera’s tears, the doctor stopped. “Ma’am, he is out of danger and in a stable condition. He is only unconscious, but that will be settled in the next twenty four hours.” He assured Kiera.
Kiera nodded entering Arthurian’s ward, she sat despondently at the edge of the bed. A tear streaked down at the sight of Arthurian's condition.
Who tempered with his car? Kiera thought. They had lots of enemies and as Arthurian was a CEO of a multibillion company, certainly, he had made an enemy with someone but who?
Diverting her gaze back at Arthurian’s pale and almost lifeless body except for the beeping of the electrocardiogram machine.
Melvin Albert raced in with fear.
“How is he doing?” His eyes took in Arthurian's pathetic form and got his answer.
The desire for revenge skyrocketed instantaneously.
“The doctor said he was out of danger and will be conscious in the next twenty four hours.”
“Has his fiancée, Tatiana Teague been informed?”
“Tatiana?” Kiera's eyes blazed with fury. “She claimed not to have anything to ever do with a semi-dead man as she can't afford to be a widow at a young age. So she broke up with him and wouldn't even assist to carry Arthurian to the stretcher.”
“What has come over the bitch?”
“Oh you didn't know the bitch your son got engaged to?” She sneered.
“Damn it! If I ever set my eyes on her again, her entire generation will be ruined, I swear!”
“I will assist in feeding her flesh to our dogs!” Kiera spitefully added.
Melvin held Kiera's hands affectionately. “He will be fine. Arthurian is such a strong head. He will beat death at its own game.”

“Hey!” Donny uttered with his eyes focused on the laptop as Amber walked into his consultation room.
“Kindly turn off the a.c else my blood might freeze out.”
The pain in her voice didn't elude Donny’s ears, rather it caught his attention. “That's absurd!”
Amber's tensed body relaxed after Donny turned off the a.c.
The consultation room walls were painted in white as Donny sat confidently in his swivel chair with his eyes focused fully on him.
“What's the problem, Amber?”
His relationship with Amber was unknown to the public. People assumed he was Amber's boss, but he knew better than to correct that presumption.
His duty was to protect Amber. She was a weak nurse, though not physically, but she was very fragile and required protection.
“You look good on scrub!” Amber blurted, earning a chuckle from Donny, but his laughter was cut short as his gaze landed on the bruise at her elbow.
“Who did that to you?” Donny snarled, nearly rising from his chair.
Realising he saw the bruise, Amber stammered. “It was a mistake.”
“A mistake from who?”
Amber bit her lower lip trembling with trepidation. There was no reason to withhold the truth from Donny, he won't let it slide.
“A young lady by name Tatiana roughly pushed me to the floor.”
Donny mentally saved the name in his head.
“Are you sure you are okay?” He pinned Amber with an intense gaze.
“Yeah. I want to ask a question,” Amber fidgeted with her manicure.
“Ask.” Donny nodded his head.
“Are you amongst the doctor who treated Mr. Arthurian Melvin, the new guy that was involved in a ghastly accident?”
Intrigued by the question, Donny braced up. “Yes, I am in charge of his case.”
“The story said his car had a brake failure, but from the little information I could gather, his brake failure wasn't natural. The car brakes were tempered with which would have killed him but he miraculously survived.”
“That was a lot of information to gather about a patient in just three hours.”
Amber ignored his compliment. “I want to make a request.”
“Go ahead.” Donny rose to brew a coffee. He added some sugar to Amber's cup of coffee before handing it to her.
Amber took a sip then placed it on Donny’s table.
“I was wondering if you could assign me the task of being Arthurian's private nurse.”
A look of horror crossed Donny’s face. His protective instinct kicked in. What if Arthurian hurt Amber?
As a doctor, he clearly understood that some patients could be aggressive to nurses especially if they feel like an invalid which obviously would be Arthurian's feeling.
What if Arthurian was a ruthless bastard or a lunatic?
Amber noted the different emotions flickering over his face.
Unperturbed, she quickly added. “I don't mean it in a bad way. From my own perspective and based on the information I got, I believe the same person involved with my parent’s accident is the one responsible for Mr. Arthurian Melvin’s accident.”
Donny listened attentively.
“I want to investigate the car accident. Who knows?” She shrugged. “I might come out with evidence against him and that means justice for my parents.”
