My brows furrow in confusion as a text from Dad’s number appears on my phone. He hasn’t messaged me since I severed ties with him.

Dad: Hello, my son. I have a surprise for you.

I wonder what’s going on in his mind.

Me: I don’t want to talk to you.

I receive a video from him, and I immediately open it. As I watch the video, shock courses through me, causing me to rise from my chair.
