Busted

I'm in bed, hurry up.

Roderick was visibly shaking with rage, staring at the text he got from Hazel. They were supposed to be spending the night together at her condo, the one he bought for her few years back as an engagement gift.

Roderick, who was already making his way over to Hazel's, got a call from the private investigator he hired to keep an eye on Hazel and the guy she was meeting at the gym. The flowers he got were sitting miserably at the back of his car.

When Hazel first told him about Mike, the guy she met at the gym Roderick thought she was bluffing. Hazel was trying to make him jealous, but after hanging up the call with his private investigator, it became clear to him that Mike wasn't the only man Hazel was seeing.

He knew he wasn't in the position to question her, turning the car around, he made his way back home. He needed someone who wouldn't lie to him or hurt him. He didn't care about his wife, but he knew she was reliable.

Driving into his garage, Roderick stepped out of his car, and walked into his mansion. Just then, his phone rang.

“Hello,” Roderick answered, without looking at the caller ID.

“Baby, I've been waiting for you. What's taking you too long?” Her sultry voice rang out in his ears. “ I've got no clothes on, hurry up.”

The image of Hazel, lying down on her bed, wearing nothing except her six inches long red bottom heels, staring at him immediately erased every feeling of rage he felt earlier. He was tempted to turn right back, but the image of her with someone else was driving him nuts.

“As much as I'd love nothing else but to be with you, I've got a work emergency. I have to go now.” He politely hung up, trying his best to mask his hurt.

Stepping into his home and making his way upstairs to his bedroom, he figured Allyson would be asleep already, so he cried as much as can not to make a sound. He didn't want to wake her up, but when he stepped into the room, he noticed Allyson wasn't in bed. This was odd.

Almost immediately, it registered that he didn't see Allyson's car in the garage. She's not home. Looking up at his watch, he noticed it was almost midnight.

Allyson didn't mention she'd be stepping out tonight. Nonchalantly, he brought out his phone and texted her.

………………..

Liam, who noticed the change in her countenance after picking up her phone, grew worried.

“Are you okay?” He asked, his voice conveyed his concern.

Without responding to his question, she threw the duvet, got out of the bed, and started getting dressed.

“ I need to get home now,” putting on her shoes, she responded.

“Fine, give me a minute. I'll drop you off.”

“No!” She blurted out loudly. Allyson noticed her response sounded like she was hiding something, so she activated damage control. “I don't want to bother you, my car is outside so it's fine. Thank you.” She flashed him a phone smile.

Taking the cue, Liam decided to let her have her way.

“I had fun tonight, we should do this again.”

Hearing this, Allyson was irritated. Liam would always ask for more, selfish man.

“For the record, this was just a one night stand, and that's all it is.” She stormed out of his room.

She could feel his eyes, boring holes behind her while she walked out.

The drive home was devastatingly painful, her thoughts were everywhere. She didn't know what to expect when she got home.

Why was he back already? Was she mistaken about who he was talking to on the phone? Was he asking someone to watch her? That was the only explanation for his sudden, out of the blues text. Knowing Roderick Chester, he was capable of anything.

“Shit!” Checking the time on her phone, she lost track of time, this wasn't good.

Driving into the private road that led to the mansion she called home, that was never really home, Allyson figured she had nothing to worry about. She'll tell Roderick she was out with Cassie. A little bit relieved, she smiled at herself.

Her smile was short-lived, and then she had this moment of epiphany, maybe Roderick had already called Cassie, when he got home and discovered she wasn't there.

She broke into a cold sweat.

Concentrating on the road and trying to call Cassie wasn't an easy task. Cassie wasn't taking her calls. Allyson angrily threw her phone. Moments like this made her realize how unreliable Cassie was. She was certainly hooking up with God knows who.

Stepping out of her car and walking into her house, Allyson offered a silent prayer. An affair that was going to cost her her sanity was the last thing she wanted.

The lights were off, she made her way upstairs and walking into the room, she noticed a figure, sitting upright on the bed and facing the door.

“Hey,” she called out, the sound of her shaky voice filled the room.

“Where are you coming from?” His voice made her stand still.

This was the question she was dreading. Roderick sounded angry, this wasn't unusual but today the anger sounded raw.

Before she could think about her answers, the words started coming out. “I was over at Cassie's place. Her new boyfriend just dumped her, she was hysterical on the phone so I had to go over there to make sure she's fine.” Allyson was surprised at how casual she sounded. She lied with ease, Roderick wasn't the only sneaky one after all.

Dropping her phone on her dresser, she walked into the bathroom. She's been ignoring all of Liam's text messages since she left his house. She knew he was concerned, but he didn't have to be.

Reminiscing about the last few hours, Allyson couldn't stop smiling to herself. As the water fell on her skin, she knew this was the beginning of something new.

The sound of her phone ringing, brought her back to the present. Wrapping the towel around her body, she hurried out of the bathroom to retrieve her phone.

Standing in front of the dresser with her phone in his hand was her husband.

The look in his eyes told her he had seen something he wasn't supposed to see. Her heart dropped.

Busted.
