I pulled up to the diner with my heart in my throat. The hot pink, neon sign proclaiming it to be "Sophia's Place" in cursive usually made me smile. But today I was filled with dread. 

I turned off the ignition and sighed, massaging my temple where a headache was beginning to blossom. My gut was screaming to turn the car around and get the hell out of there before it was too late.
