Alexis's POV 

My heart pounded, my vision narrowing to a pinprick. I took a deep breath, trying to force air into my lungs before I fainted. Collapsing on the floor of the classroom wasn't going to do anybody any good. 

"Alexis, are you still with me?" Asher asked, with an amused chuckle. "Are you coming to dinner? Or should I invite some other friends of mine instead?" 

His delight in playing this dark game with me drew me out of my terror-stricken ...
