Kallisto's POV

I place my fork on my plate, watching him. "Apex, did you hear me?"

Apex grabs his napkin, wiping his mouth before placing it back on the table. He's still not making eye contact with me and that makes me anxious.

"Did you hear me?" I repeat.

Apex leans forward, his eyes narrowed as he stares at me.

I squint, trying to hear his thoughts.

Nothing.

"Apex," I pause, playing  the napkin in my lap. "It's not the right time ...
