"That's it," Kallisto says, excitement brimming to a crescendo in her voice. "It's over, Apex."

I am too preoccupied with staring at her beautifully healed palm to share her joy. Yes, I'm happy for her. I can only assume that Kallisto subconsciously didn't feel safe enough to shift. The unknown bothers me.

What is the reason she didn't feel safe enough to shift before?
