AVA
I sat quietly on my bed, staring down at the black piece of paper. Many thoughts raced through my mind. I gently picked it and opened it with a trembling hand.
And just like my black box, the writings were written in gold ink, it was carefully written down like though someone in the Shakespearean era wrote it.
You have finally found your mate, and we rejoice with you. We hear that she is a half wolf and human as well. Although it is forbidden that a wolf's mate is a human but nevertheless, you must make her yours. The council has given you five days to return to the pack with your mate.
My hands trembled as I held the paper, staring at the gold written words.
Does it mean that he was here to take me back to his people. I paced round the room, unsure of what to do, do I tell mom? Caleb?
Okay, Caleb might not be the option right now, but mom, she might freak out.
I slumped on my bed, staring at the ceiling. I just wish this whole thing was a dream and I was gonna wake up pretty soon. I was already getting tired of the whole wolf stuff, but what if I wasn't really one, or mom was just being unnecessarily scared or something.
The ringing sound of my phone jotted my out. I checked the caller but it was an unknown number so I didn't answer it but then it kept on ringing and I decided to answer it.
“Hello?” I said into the phone but all I received was silence. Then the caller hung up.
Weird. I thought.
Just as I was about to drop it again, it rang again.
“Hello?” I answered again but this time around, I could hear heavy breathing.
“Who’s this?”
“Ava.” The caller said in a hoarse voice.
“Who are you?” my voice failing me, as I asked. But the person didn't reply back. Could it be Mr Logan, No, it can't be, right?
“Mr... Logan?” I said, my voice shaky.
“It's not him!” The caller said, his voice laced in anger. Then I heard trashing sounds before the line went dead.
I pondered deeply as I tried to figure out who could have called me. It can't be one of Caleb's trick. And speaking of the devil, I picked up the phone and answered his call.
“Hey.”
“You’ve got anything to do tonight?” He asked in a pleading voice.
“No, why?”
“Okay. So I found out about this midnight car racing event and I thinking if we should check it out?”
“That’s illegal right?”
“I know, but it's just for tonight please?” He pleaded, I had no other choice but to accept my best friend's plea.
“Fine.” I answered and hung up.
My mind still laced on who the weird caller could be, but why did he get angry when I mentioned Mr Logan's name.
I huffed out, I actually needed to go out and clear my head, the past few days have been so stressful. I lay back on my bed, clutching the black letter to my chest before drifting off to sleep.
UNKNOWN POV
“Why would she call his name?” I growled.
If she called his name, does it mean that he has already approached her. But why would Logan approach my mate. That cunning wolf, he better stay off my mate. Logan Moon, you had better be careful, I wasn't going to take it easy on him if anything should happen to my mate.
“Get me every information on Ava Reed and what she is doing right now?” I commanded my men.
If Logan is after my mate, then I need to step up my game.
I walked to my wine cellar, brought out a bottle of Dictador m-city golden cities wine. It is a special type of rum which I take whenever I want to calm my nerves.
I really want to feel my mates touch, I want to mark her and claim what's mine.
“Ava, just wait for me.” I muttered as I sipped on the wine.
AVA
“Woah.” I murmured as I stared round the racing center. The lights, the sports cars, and the people.
The smell of gasoline and smoke filled the ear, the sound of engines roared.
Of course there was something that had to make it illegal, the smoking and betting.
It wasn't easy slipping out of the house without mom knowing, the past days, she has been really strict. Giving me curfew and lectures.
I held tightly unto Caleb as we made our way through the crowd. We finally made it to the front row, right on time as they were about to begin the race.
“So how do we know who is gonna win, like if the other rider doesn't plan something?” I screamed through the noise, my face laced with curiosity.
“See that big screen over there?” he pointed at a big screen at the corner and I nodded. “That’s where we're gonna view the whole stuff.” He explained carefully.
The race began and the noises, it was pricking at my ear. It made it impossible for me to hear, I needed space. I tapped Caleb but he was so engrossed in the race so I slipped out. My legs began to tremble and my eyes felt heavy. It was like I was about to sleep but I didn't want to. I began to feel dizzy.
I couldn't hear what people were saying properly.
I tried touching someone but I tripped and fell down. No one seemed to care, I stood up again and sat on a bench close by, my head heavy like as if I had just drank a bottle of alcohol.
After some few minutes, I regained myself and stood up but just as I was about to take a step forward, I lost my balance and fell back. But my back didn't hit the ground, I slightly opened my eye, someone was staring directly at me. But my vision was blur, I couldn't make out who it was.
“You’re safe now, Ava.” I heard before loosing consciousness.
