AVA
“I’m a monster mom.” I cried.
Mom wrapped her hands around me, ushering a warm embrace.
“No, you're not.” She whispered. “My Ava is not a monster, you are my daughter, your father's daughter. And you are beautiful.”
“Mom.” I sniffed as I disengaged from the hug. “Something is inside of me, it speaks to me.”
Mom smiled and sat me down on the bed. “I might not be great at supernatural things but I'll try my best as your mother to tell the things I know.” She wiped the tears from my face and continued, “I did remember that your father most times always talk to himself and when I ask, he says it's his wolf speaking to him.”
“His wolf?” I asked lifting up my face to meet hers.
“Yes.” she nodded. “It’s more like your subconscious talking to you, it helps you figure things out. He calls it his best friend.”
“You really do know a lot about wolves.”
“I was married to one remember.” She faked a smile and I could have sworn that I saw a tiny drop of tear.
“I’ll leave you to calm down, alright?” She leaned forward, giving me a kiss on the forehead before walking out.
I stood up and walked to my mirror, the fangs and long ears were gone, same as the long nails. So it was real after all, I was really a wolf. I sighed as I continued to stare at my reflection.
“Finally, accepting your true self.” The voice said again and this time, I didn't get scared.
“Are you my wolf?” I asked, staring at the mirror.
“Seems like Mom really did a lot of work on you.” I could feel her stirring up. “Oh, it feels good to be awake again.”
I stared kneely at the mirror like as though I could actually see “My wolf.”
“If you're going to continue staring, I might as well turn to one.” She warned.
“Sorry.” I apologized.
I talked to my wolf for a few more minutes and I got to find out that her name was Micha.
I hurriedly prepared for class, I was really late and my phone has been buzzing from the countless calls and texts from Caleb.
I rushed downstairs and met mom setting the table, I took just a spoonful of the scrambled eggs and drank my milk.
“Bye mom.” I waved at her before running off. I ran to the bus station but there wasn't any passenger there, maybe I was the first. I waited for about ten more minutes but there wasn't any bus coming.
I dialed Caleb's number, just maybe he might still be at home.
“Where the hell are you?” He yelled into the phone.
“What’s wrong?”
“We’ve got trig test in about ten minutes.” I stood motionless for a minute, my hands trembled.
Oh No, if I miss today's test, my grade is gonna go low. I put back my phone into my bag, I know there was no way I was gonna make it to school in ten minutes. I hastened my footsteps, but it wasn't enough, I had eight more minutes remaining. I began to run, I was not much of a racer but I tried my best. As I ran, I felt my legs moving so fast. I was running faster than I've ever ran. I finally arrived in class just in time before the teacher got in. I felt really good, I wasn't feeling tired like one who had just ran 30 miles.
I sat next to Caleb, bringing out my materials for the test.
“Hi.” I whispered and he nodded.
Weird.

“Oh goodness, I'm so hungry.” I said as I sat on the chair in the cafeteria. I began to munch chicken nuggets.
“You’ve been acting really weird Ava.” Caleb said staring at me.
“I don't understand.”
“It all started after your birthday, you've completely changed,” he said, his voice low but filled with concern. “It’s like you're not longer the Ava that I used to know.”
I stared down at my food, I really wanted to tell Caleb everything. I wanted to hold my best friend's hands and tell him that I wasn't okay.
“I’m sorry Caleb, I really wish I could tell you everything but something are better left on said.”
“Then what's the purpose of the friendship Ava?” He asked standing up. “I think this friendship needs a break.” His voice bitter.
I watched my best friend walk out of the cafeteria with anger. I wanted to run after him and gave him a reassuring hug but my legs seems to have gone numb. I really want to go back to my old life.
“I’m sorry Caleb.” I whispered softly, letting the tears I've been holding back fall.
CALEB
I entered into my car and banged the door so loudly that it could almost rip off. I was really mad at Ava. She had secrets and I was the closest person she could always confide in but she seems to have gone AWOL. My suspicions about her weird behaviour was proven right yesterday. I was at the old school building with some bitch when I heard voices. I tiptoed to the third floor and that was when I saw Mr Logan kissing Ava. I felt jealous and betrayed.
I've always loved Ava ever since I turned ten, I thought she would notice my love for her but she never gave me the opportunity. I went on dates just to get her jealous but she did care.
“Ava!” I growled loudly, Slamming my hand on the car.
But why would Ava want to be with Mr Logan, she told me herself that she didn't like him, so why would she go to meet him at a quiet place. Or was Mr Logan forcing himself on her.
Either way, I need to find out exactly what was going on between them. I need to have my best friend, the first person to ever make me feel loved back.
Igniting the car, I drove into the road and down the city.
“Ava, just wait for me.”
