Tears streaming down my cheeks. What happened in the previous seconds had left me shattered and broken. The knock on my door startled me, and I hesitated before calling out weakly, "Come in."

The door creaked open, and Michael stepped inside, his presence a mix of unease. He saw me crying and his expression softened with regret. "I'm so sorry for what happened between us, I didn't mean to hurt you," he said softly, genuine remorse showing in his eyes.
