CHLOE

Lucia kept walking down. We stopped at an apartment, and entered. We went down the passage way.

Lucia didn’t slow down, not even when the passageway turned narrow enough that my shoulder brushed cold stone. I followed her in tight breaths, one hand instinctively shielding my stomach.

“Lucia,” I whispered, “You still haven’t told me where….”

But she shoved open a final wooden door.

And stopped.

I nearly collided with her, and suddenly,

I froze.
