I listened to the voices outside of the tent as closely as I could. Ferrah’s words were clear to me, but there was another voice that I couldn’t make out. It was muffled, which meant that the person must be standing some distance from her.

Good.

There was something dark about the deep voice. There was no warmth or sincerity to the tone of it and I didn’t want the source of the voice anywhere near Ferrah.
