Cora POV

I returned to the ward with my head held high, even though my hands were still trembling slightly. I shoved them into the pockets of my coat, forcing myself to focus. Patients didn’t care about politics. They didn’t care about rumors. They cared about being alive.

And that was the only thing that mattered.

“Dr. Cora,” a nurse called out. “Emergency consult in bed seven.”
