Cora’s POV

His breath mingled with mine, warm and unsteady. For a heartbeat, the world stopped moving.

Then his lips brushed against mine — soft at first, almost uncertain, as if testing the boundary neither of us had dared cross before.

A thousand sparks raced through me. My hands trembled against his chest, but instead of pushing him away, I found myself clutching his shirt, holding on to something I couldn’t name.
