Cora POV

The hospital never slept.

Even at 3:17 a.m., the corridors buzzed with hurried footsteps, rolling stretchers, and the low hum of machines that kept people alive. I had been on my feet for nearly sixteen hours straight, my back aching, my eyes burning, my coffee long gone cold.
