We were halfway to Sebastian's car when I stopped.

"I can't leave him like that."

Sebastian turned to face me. "Elise—"

"No. I know he said he needed space, but did you see his face? He's falling apart up there." I pulled away from Sebastian's grip. "He's been my friend since we were kids. Whatever else has happened between us, I can't just abandon him when he's breaking."

"He asked us to leave."

"I know what he asked. But I also know Marcus. He pushes people away when he's hurting ...
