I crushed the message in my fist, the parchment crumbling like my hopes for keeping that girl safe. My spy network never lied, and right now, I wished they did.

Elise had walked straight into the wolf's den. Literally.

"Of all the places in this goddess-forsaken realm," I muttered, pacing around my cramped tower room, "she had to pick Alpha Drake's territory. The one place I specifically told her to avoid!"
