I could not sleep.

I had tried. I lay there with my eyes closed for what felt like an hour, maybe longer, willing my brain to shut up and let me rest but it didn’t cooperate. It just kept running the same reel over and over, the same handful of moments from the day that I could not stop picking at no matter how much I told myself it did not matter.
