Payne stood up, eyes fever-bright as he stared at me.

"What happened? You don’t look so good."

I let out a sigh, threw my head back to work out the coil of tension in my neck, then looked past him.

"Vesper is in Calgary."

He stepped in front of me. "Did she find out about Zevran?"
