Chapter 67

Avery awoke to the sensation of rough rope digging into her wrists and ankles. Her head throbbed, and her vision swam as she tried to make sense of her surroundings. She was in a different cell this time, one with thick, unyielding bars and a heavy padlock. The smell of damp earth and mildew permeated the air, and the faint light from a flickering torch cast eerie shadows on the stone walls.

Turns out Avery was having a dream. She had not fled but was still held captive.
