Lucifer’s POV

The morning broke colder than usual.

I sat up, rubbing my eyes, the ache in my ribs from the injuries a couple of days back were still felt. The clearing felt very quiet, more quiet than it usually does.

I looked over to my left. Alexis was sprawled on the floor of his mat, his head lolling to one side.

On the other end of the small camp, the blanket where Amelia had slept was empty.

I frowned.

She was always the last one to wake up…
