After the reunion we didn't waste any more time than we needed to.

Together, we hauled Ronan up again and began to move deeper into the forest, our steps slower now as the exhaustion finally caught on us.

“I can’t lose you,” I whispered hoarsely as we walked. “I can’t lose either of you.”
