I didn’t even have time to catch my breath before I realized what was happening.

Elaine moved toward me with that smug look, the same one she always wore, and I knew immediately she wasn’t there to talk.

She reached for the ropes at my wrists.

“Stop,” I said, my voice low but weak.

But she didn’t. Her hands were already tightening the ropes, preparing to drag me away.

My heart started pounding harder. Not again...

I felt it before I even knew what it was... a sudden surge ...
