Hidden Motives

Elijah leaned in, his eyes looking up with excitement. “The Stone Enterprise is a cutting-edge tech firm, business and technology innovations in materials science. They're looking for someone with your unique skill set.”

“Wow, so how can I get the Access to work with them?” Rory asked.

“Well, you just have to stay committed and answer every question which you are asked correctly. No mistake at all should be made okay” Elijah said.

Rory listened intently as Elijah explained the company's vision and the role she'd be filling.

“So when would this be held? Like, I mean, when are we going for the interview?” Rory asked.

“We are going right now, the interview is today, and you actually can't afford to be late. We have to move as fast as we can to get there on time” Elijah said.

“Okay, but why are you doing this?” Rory asked. Her questions hinged in the air as Elijah looked at her with a surge of eagerness.

“What do you mean?” Elijah asked.

“I mean, you have only been the one helping me like I didn't do anything to deserve this so much kindness from you, why are you just helping me just like that?” She asked again.

“I know you might be filled with questions right now, but I don't think this is the best time for us to banter about this issue. What you have to focus more on is how you got the job already, and then you can question me about any difficulties which you are having with me. But like I said before, I just want to help people in the glades, and you are not the only person, okay” Elijah said.

“Okay” Rory said, her voice glitching.

“Do now can we just leave, and you just stop creating a sense of distraction to what we have to do” Elijah said as they both left for the Stone Enterprise?

A few minutes after they left home to the Stone Enterprise, they got to the company. And it was a big company with colorful holdings. “Wow, I'm really thrilled to see this company. Can I get a chance to work here in this company?” Rory asked in surprise.

“You would have the chance to work here if you follow my advice and work with your heart, not your mouth. Let's focus on the interview, okay because I think there would be other agents who want their client to get the job,” Elijah said as they both rushed inside.

As they arrived at the sleek, modern office building, Rory felt a flutter of nerves. Elijah offered a reassuring smile and led her to the conference room. The interview panel was impressed by Rory's intelligence and passion, and she nailed every question. Rory came out of the conference room, her face filled with a smile and overwhelmed as she was given a handshake by the panel, saying she made a good point In the interview.

“With the smile on your face, I could tell that you are already pleased with yourself. So tell me what is about the smiles?” Elijah asked.

“What else, if not that I was assured of getting the job. The host who asked told me that I could get a chance at getting the job. He assured me that I made a few good points in the interview, and I am truly an exception to others” Rory said smiling.

“I knew you could do good there. I had it in me” Elijah said.

“All thanks to you who told me everything about what I need to know about the interest, I think you are even the Master mind to all the success. You are the one to be thanked for all of this” Rory said.

“Not at all, I accept that I taught you everything but for you to get all of this in just a few hours, it's a genius, you are really the one to be thanked here” Elijah said.

“Let's just say Hank to each other already, we made it with your knowledge and with my teaching, so you thank me I thank you” she said smiling.

Elijah beamed with pride as they left the building. “You did amazingly well,” he said. “I think you've got a good chance of getting the job.” As Rory roamed around in a thrilled mind on her success in getting a lead ahead of others in the interview, she bumped into Kaplan, the acting CEO of the company. “I'm so sorry about that, please, it's a mistake. I was totally ignorant about my steps,” she said, trying to help him get up.

“Get your hands off me, and get to know how to behave in public, I don't know the cause of your happiness, but you should learn to control it when you are in public, you don't jump around In every corner you are” Kaplan said and left. He was ruthless and never minded about his words. He was only focused and dedicated to the company.

Meanwhile, as the drama was going on, Elijah watched the both of them closely. “Why was he that arrogant? I know I made a mistake in hitting him, but I pleaded immediately, but he was too harsh with his words to me” Rory said.

“You just bumped into the CEO of the company which you are about to work for,” Elijah replied. Rory looked at him in surprise as a shiver ran down through her spine.

“What? He is the CEO? It's obvious that I wouldn't even get this job because he is already hating me. I think I should just quit” Rory said.

“You don't have to quit, besides, he doesn't even look more on his feelings. He would always want what was best for the company and there is no extent he wouldn't be just to see the company go further. If you have the potential he is looking for, you are getting the job okay” Elijah assured.

Rory's confidence soared, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more to the Stone Enterprise than met the eye.
