The silence between Aimes and me wasn't uncomfortable, but it was heavy, almost like a thick sludge neither of us particularly felt like fighting our way through.

I didn't know whether he was simply too tired to speak, or if he was angry with me for being angry with him. I couldn't help but remember the wolf's warning in my dream, about how I could irreparably damage our relationship if I wasn't careful.
