I slowed my steps as the shape ahead sharpened in the moonlight. A whisper threaded through the night, faint at first, then louder with every breath I took. Why would anyone be lying alone in the middle of the jungle beneath such a dark sky?

The figure trembled. Her face was hidden beneath a spill of silvery curls, whispering words that twisted with the wind.
