Edvard snaps his fingers, the sound sharp as a gunshot in the stone chamber.

A fae materializes from the shadows—tall, silver-eyed, dressed in dark robes that seem to absorb light. My stomach drops as Edvard gestures toward Talia with lazy indifference.

"Take her to my brother," he says, his voice casual. Like he's discussing where to store luggage. "He'll appreciate her."

The words make my blood run cold. The way he says appreciate—
