Naomi's POV
“NAOMIIIII….” My mother's call was the first thing I heard that morning.
I was already awake, but had stayed in bed in one of those moments where you have to stay in bed for a while and think about your life but obviously mom wouldn't let me do that in peace.
“I'm coming!” I called out to her, hoping she heard me downstairs so she wouldn't start calling again.
Just like old times huh? I told myself grudgingly as I stepped out of bed.
After I had brushed and freshened up, I made my way downstairs where my family was already waiting all around the breakfast table.
“You still gotta work on the time you wake up sweetie.” Mom complained immediately after I had settled down in an empty chair.
“Good morning to you too, mom.” I replied, reaching for a bacon. “Good morning dad.”
Dad, as usual, had his face buried in his morning newspaper. He only looked away long enough to offer a smile and then returned to his paper.
“Hi, Naomi.” Clara greeted, all smiles. Next to her, sat Theo who was already devouring his food as if he hadn't eaten for days. “I'm so so sorry about last night.”
“It's nothing.” I replied simply. “A girl must learn to handle herself.”
“That's right.” Clara smiled. “But you must be careful though. I heard that it's no funny business once those rogues have you in their sight.”
“It'll take more than rogues to put me down.” I replied, stuffing my mouth full of bacon. “I'm never one to roll on my back and offer my belly up for attacks.”
“Awww isn't that cute.” Mom chimed in. “Now why don't we channel the same amount of energy into getting you a job?”
“Whoah… whoah..” I raised my hands up in the time-out sign. “Mom! I'm only back for a day and you're already discussing my employment status?”
“Well, we figured you'll need one, if you'll be staying around for a while here..” Mom answered defensively. “Here, Theo has something for you. Don't you, Theo?”
Theo reached into a briefcase he had beside him, resting on the legs of his chair, and pulled out the square paper.
“Here.” Theo said as he handed the paper to me. “It's a pass. I already spoke to some business friends, and we've worked out something for you already, something that fits into your skill set.”
I snatched the paper and stuffed it into my pockets right away without really looking at it. “Thank you.” I said with pursed lips.
“I'll personally drive you to the company after breakfast.” Theo added.
“No you won't.” I countered. “I brought my car so, thanks but no.”
“Naomi? Why don't you let Theo drive you?” Mom prompted.
I immediately realized the reason why they were suddenly so protective. Everything pointed to the assassination attempt on my life yesterday.
“Seriously guys?” I rolled my eyes in frustration. “Someone attacked me yesterday, I get it, but that doesn't mean you halt your daily routines and become full-time babysitters, and seriously, Theo, your services won't be required. I believe I can hold against my own.”
“It isn't a debate, Naomi.” Dad spoke finally, dropping his newspaper with a sigh. “This wasn't an ordinary attack. You've been marked. Whoever that rogue was, he'll come again for you, and when he does, it'll be better if he meets us prepared.”
I saw no way I could weasle my way out of this one so for now, I kept quiet ready to roll with them on this one..For now.

Moments later, I was in Theo's car as he slowly came to a stop at the gates of a gigantic office building. A uniformed guard immediately stepped out of the gatehouse and approached the car.
“Identify yourself, sir.” He called, leaning down to get a better view within.
“Theo Carter and my sister Naomi Carter.” Theo replied, flashing an ID card. “We've got an appointment with the CEO.”
The guard's gaze shifted from the ID card and lingered on my face for a while before he nodded and stepped back. The gates opened with a buzz and Theo drove the car into the premises.
“Look lively.” Theo whispered to me as we exited the car and headed for the building where two guards stood, flanking the entrance.
Immediately we approached them, they offered us nods, particularly to Theo, I figured he was popular among these men. After I had shown my pass, one of the guards led us into the grand lobby and straight to a receptionist.
“The Boss specifically asked for this one.” The guard said, handing us over to the receptionist.
“Good day to you Sir, Ma'am.” The receptionist greeted me, putting on her best professional smile. “The boss will be delighted to learn that you've arrived. This way please.” She proceeded down the hallway to an elevator while we followed behind.
“Who are these people?” I whispered to Theo.
“Business Men and women.” He replied shortly. “Trust me, you'll love it here.”
That wasn't very assuring for me. I wasn't like most people. I was difficult to please let and easily offended too but at the moment, I decided to bank on Theo's words.
Before we could reach the elevator, the receptionist turned towards Theo. “I'm sorry Sir, but you'll have to wait in the visitor's lounge.” She pointed to a room on her left.
“Go on then.” I told Theo. “You're relieved of your babysitting services.”
He smiled and slapped me gently on the shoulder. “Good luck.”
The receptionist led me through a hallway on the top floor and finally into a door. This was the secretary's office I guess because behind was another door with the initials L.W written on it.
“Is this her?” The secretary asked.
“Uh-huh.” Came the reply from the receptionist.
“All right. He's waiting.” The secretary rose to usher me in.
This was it. I took a deep breath and steadied myself. The door was pushed open and I froze momentarily. Alpha Logan was resting casually in a chair behind the desk…
