73. Midnight Truths

I could not sleep.

Blake’s room was too big and too full of memories that did not belong to me. The posters on the wall. The faint smell of his cologne on the pillow. Even the moonlight felt different filtered through his curtains.

I lay there for nearly an hour, staring at the ceiling, counting the seconds between the quiet ticking of the clock. Eventually the silence felt too heavy to sit under, so I pushed myself out of bed and padded barefoot down the hallway.
