SERENA'S POV
I found solace in the rogue sanctuary, a place where outcasts and misfits like me found refuge. The months passed slowly, and my belly grew with the life inside me. Kai helped me with all the support I needed. He was there for me when I required him, and he continued showing me support. I knew he was doing all this out of the loyalty he had for me, but it was far too much. He came around the room where I lay. I had to talk to him about something.
“Hey, you have been standing there for over two minutes now, and you have been saying nothing to me. What do you have in mind for me?” I said, my voice shivering. “Well, out of what I'm doing, it's obvious that I am only watching over you for safety and nothing else. You have to put me to bed safely, okay? I have to be by your side till this is over,” Kai said. With all the conversation we had, we drew closer and closer, and I was pleased with his comfort and his relationship with me. I was so close to him, the same as me. There was this friendly connection between us, and I loved it so much. “I have something to say to you, and it's critical to you. I mean, you still have to know what is going on in the palace because you have rights to it despite the situation with the Alpha,” Kai said. “What is it?” I asked him my voice, curious and searching. I was so interested in what he had to tell me, so I had to ask with interest what it was all about. “Well, there is something going on at the palace right now that you have to know about, and it's about Alpha Draven's situation. I mean his memories. I think it's getting worse without you, and you have to be there with him,” Kai explained.
“What do you mean? Don't you remember what I told you when I first came here? He doesn't remember who I am and doesn't even know who I am, although I still need him in my life, but I can't help the fact that he doesn't want me, and I should work with it. You have to understand me, okay?” I said, my voice low and sad. “I understand you, okay, but you should still know that you still have a connection with him and you are the only one to help him. Celeste and the other elders are there manipulating him. I also have to help him, but as the situation is now, you have to understand that I can't even go back to the pack,” Kai said.“You should understand that the both of us don't have any other connections in going back to the pack. We should just stay here because this is the safest place we can stay for ourselves. Even if I agree to go back to him, don't you think of what the elders and Celeste would do? They would only manipulate me and get me out of the picture as they did before,” I said, trying to explain that I can't go back to Draven. “I think I understand you perfectly okay, but you know that we are the ones who would be there to help him.” Immediately after his words, I felt a little pain in my wombs. At first I thought it was just a normal pain that I had. Maybe it was probably the baby kicking. But this time it came with force, and I had to act fast immediately; it was obvious that I was in labor already. “Are you okay?” Kai asked in a hasty voice. “It's the baby; she is really coming out; I'm already in labor,” I shouted. A few minutes after the pain, I later went to bed a few minutes after it. “What should we call her?” Kai asked.
“I have no clue what we should even call her right now,” I said, my voice tired. “I think we should call her Lyra; she looks much more exactly like you,” Kai said. “Since it's coming from you I will go with the name from now on. She should be called Lyra.” I said my voice still sounded low. Lyra, my daughter, kicked and squirmed, a tiny rebel determined to make her presence known. I felt a mix of emotions: sadness, anger, and determination. I knew I had to survive, not just for myself but for my child. Likewise, I trained in secret, honing my skills and gathering strength. The rogue sanctuary was a place of healing but also a place of preparation.
“Since you have conceived this child, I think this is the right time for you to become what you are destined for, which is the training that you need to get stronger for the challenges ahead of you,” Kai said. “What do you mean?” I asked.
“I mean that you should be preparing for the training. Tell me when you are ready. I would introduce you to her when you're ready,” Kai said. This was all lots of trauma, which I was ready to pass, but to achieve that, I would have to think ahead of what I want to become, which is getting over my feelings. I had to survive. I would return to Frostfang, and I would reclaim my place. Lyra's tiny hand wrapped around my finger, and I felt a surge of determination. I would fight for our future, no matter the cost. I would make Draven remember, and I would make the pack acknowledge my place as Luna.
