I took a deep breath of relief when Kael finally walked out of the room.

But I didn’t want to admit that his presence had been a little more than helpful.

I haven’t been able to close my eyes without seeing those creatures. Their twisted forms. Those burning red eyes or the way they moved like broken puppets.

Every time I tried to sleep, I saw them crawling out of the ground. Reaching for me with those too-long fingers.
