His expression went dark. Dangerous.

“What did it say?” he asked, frowning.

“It asked me to come home.”

“You are already home,” he said, storming past me into the room. His eyes were blazing as he went straight to the window. “Where was it? Which direction?”

“The window. But it’s gone now. It disappeared back into the shadows.”
