I walked through the pack house looking for Kael. My heart was beating fast. The book was hidden under my dress, pressed against my stomach.

I needed answers. I needed to know what I really did when I was a child. What made everyone so scared of me.

A servant told me Kael was in the training area. “He doesn’t like people bothering him when he works out,” she said.
