Driving The CEO

"I know he's paying me to do all of this but can he tone down the commands a little?” Elsie humphed, climbing out of the car, then stopped when she was about to slam the door.

"It's not my car anyway,” she whispered to herself and closed the door, gently.

She turned around to look at the rest of the garage, stopping short when she realized there were about nine more cars parked inside.

She also noticed that calling the room a garage was a bit of an understatement. It was like she was inside one of those car shipping containers that carried twenty to thirty of them.

Except this one was smaller, had excellent lighting, and looked like the interior of a car show performance hall.

"Wow," Elsie whispered to herself, astonished by the luxury. It took her a while to remember she was working for a billionaire now.

"Darla's got to hear this when I get back.” She mused as she left the garage, still in awe.

By the time she'd gotten back to Luca's home, it was twenty minutes to ten p.m.

Where she lived was relatively safe but anything could happen. Luckily for her, she had a spare pepper spray in her bag.

She hoped it was functional. She opened the door to Luca's home, closed her eyes, and stepped in.

God knows what surprise I'm in for now. Elsie thought. She'd gotten enough surprises today that will last her a lifetime.

Elsie opened her eyes when she'd taken seven steps.

A squeak escaped her mouth when she got the first glimpse of the house. If she needed one final thing to remind her that she worked for a multi-billionaire then the house had delivered it.

To her right was a grand spiral staircase, coated in oak brown.

And to her left was a massive living room that was three times the size of her apartment. Further down from where she stood were glass doors she couldn't imagine where they led to.

Elsie caught a glimpse of a dining and kitchen from across the living room. She thought she had to go through the glass doors but thankfully, that issue solved itself before she moved her feet.

Elsie took a look at the staircase before she made her way to the kitchen. She wondered what the house would look like with natural sunlight tomorrow.

Right now, the white walls sparkled brightly from the chandelier hanging in the living room from a really high ceiling Elsie had to tilt her head all the way back to observe.

When she passed the dining and made it to the kitchen, she kept her bag on a stool to take a look around. There were three doors in the kitchen and she'd taken one from the dining. Elsie guessed the door to her right led outside to the back of the house.

She wondered what the one on the left led to but didn't bother opening it. She had a lifetime to work for Mr. Vanthross and could explore it later. She wondered what she was supposed to prepare for dinner when she something like a menu on the face of the counter. Elsie moved closer to take a look.

The menu was a food timetable that included recipes. Elsie was mildly impressed. She told herself that if she were a billionaire who had people to cook for her, it’ll never have crossed her mind to be thoughtful like this.

Elsie took a closer look and noticed that the menu was actually a book and not a sheet of paper. She picked the book up, opened it, and read through the pages. Each page had a specified meal plan and what ingredients to use when cooking.

There was a particular page written on ingredients that were prohibited, even if they were the only thing in the kitchen. Elsie was deep in reading more about the meal plans and recipes that when her phone rang, it scared her. She dropped the book to search for her phone inside her bag. The calller ID showed Darla on the screen. Elsie swiped right to answer. “Hey, I’m sorry I arrived at your work late. I just clocked out.” Darla sounded out of breath on the phone. “It’s fine, Darl. I’m not even finished with work. Why do you sound tired? Were you running?” Elsie asked, concern laced in her voice. “Yeah, I wanted to meet you at your new place of work. Guess I’ll see you at home.” Darla said, sounding more composed. Elsie guessed she must be sitting or walking at a slower pace now. “That's alright. I'll see you soon too. Did you eat at the restaurant? Should I get us food when I come home? I haven't had dinner or lunch.” Elsie inquired.

She glanced at the meal book and decided to cook something for herself and Darla when she was done cooking for Luca.

"Yes! That will be great. I couldn't grab a bite of anything because I had to cover my co-worker's shift. See you at home soon, bye!” Darla ended the call. Elsie looked at the time before dropping her phone in her bag again. It was five minutes after ten.

"What? It's 10 p.m. Already?!” Elsie shouted, hoping Mr. Vanthross didn't hear her.

She shuffled to the cabinets, scrambling for pots and pans. When she'd brought out enough items for cooking, she went to the fridge to bring out vegetables and other food ingredients the meal book had stated.

She thanked the heavens for whoever was in charge of Mr. Vanthross' kitchen for making things easy to find, even when the kitchen was bigger than her apartment.

When Elsie had gathered all she needed to prepare dinner, she glanced one more time at the book for confirmation.

"Alright, let's make the best risotto Mr. Vanthross' ever had,” she said to the pots and ingredients, clapped her hands, and went to the sink to wash the rice she'd grabbed from one of the cabinets.

Elsie was oblivious to Luca who had been observing her since her phone call with Darla. He smirked to himself when she made the comment about making the best risotto he'd ever tasted.

Luca couldn't wait to see just how wrong she was.
