(Reminiscing thoughts....)

The figure standing in the hallway was backlit by the soft emergency lighting, making it difficult to see at first. We were swaddled in an enormous, fluffy pyjamas, the kind provided by a luxury hotel. Bare feet peeked out from underneath, toes curling against the cold marble floor, and the person’s hair of whom I was trying to spot was piled into a messy, lopsided bun, and her face was free of makeup, looking pale and strangely young.
