It was finally time to start university.My mother went to the market to get me some basic necessities such as food,new clothes and shoes to make my life easier for the school.I was fortunate to get living stipends and academic support such as books and accommodation.I was not paying any school fees.It was on the school to provide them to me on the basis that I would be a good student and also maintain or improve my grades till I complete.If there should be any poor performance the school would no longer support me .I couldn’t let myself and family down.We resume with so many zeal for the semester.I had gone to my hall and assigned room.We were four students in that room.I was the last person to arrive.One guy was sitting near the windows,he looked at me with my bag in my hands.“Are these the only items you brought to uni?”He questioned me.I was about to answer him when one guy sleeping on his bed signaled me to keep quiet.He still stared at me while I looked away.The guy stood up,he was so huge and tall.He had a round eyes poked out and had a scar around his neck.I had a phone call and went outside to answer it.“Hi,I’m Eddie,don’t mind that guy who spoke to you.

He is big for nothing .

Nice meeting you,"said the guy sleeping on the bed.I was so relieved to have made a friend.I responded,“My name is Allen and I’m a fresher,”I responded.He then told me he was a final student and also an engineering student.I was also going to study the same course.I also so amazed and felt so lucky to have a friend and a roommate with a person I could feel safe with and also learn a lot from.School continued smoothly and later on the rest of the boys introduced themselves to me while I did same.

I had decided to learn engineering since I had learnt the basics from senior high and it was something easier to me.I didn’t want to continue my education at the tertiary level. I wanted to venture into business and learn a trade.My mom didn’t agree with me.She wanted me to be a university graduate so that I would set the bar high for my sister.I want you to learn hard so that I can brag about you to people especially your father,”my mother said.The following week was orientation and you could see people walking in groups.Most of my classmates wanted to explore different places so none were attending my school.I had no one to walk with.Eddie had gone to class.I did not have a phone yet.The school promised to give me a laptop and truly they fulfilled it. I wanted to use Eddie’s phone to call my mom and sister but he wasn’t around.I waited till he came back and gave it me.After I was done,I gave it back to him and went straight to the library.I set up the laptop and decided to test it connectivity and network.It was good and effective for it purpose.My mom had promised to buy me a phone the following week so I shouldn’t worry.I was not perturbed because most of the stuff I needed to do can be done by the laptop.It was the last day of the orientation and most of the people seemed to really enjoy it.Many people had already gotten their partners and friends.

The following week was time for academics.We had started learning seriously.My mother bought my phone and sent it through my sister.She came to see me on campus,she was so impressed by our school.Although our town was not that big but we had a functional educational system.The community had strive for amenities and infrastructure but then the government is not willing to help.It took the grace of foreign aid and investors to provide this efficient system and it was working perfectly.Many people came from far and near to school there because of its functionality and facilities.I encouraged my sister to learn harder so that she can also earn a scholarship.I introduced her to my roommate and later escorted her to the gate to pick a ride home.

I was so happy that finally I had gotten a phone and I can now get contacts of my coursemates and roommates . I can also take pictures and photos for future reference.I immediately let down some tears and thanked my mom for handing this device to me.It meant a lot to me and I couldn’t wait to use it.I went through school smoothly and made sure I learnt harder.I made friends from my class,hall ,room and later church.I also involved myself in extracurricular activities such as basketball and boxing.I used to participate in this hobby during Senior High School.I was so better at it that I played basketball for the school team.I was also a boxer but I hardly went for that training because it was time consuming.I wrote all my exams and made sure I got good grades.I never dated on campus.Many of the girls used to text me and also approached me with proposals which I turned all down politely.I once fought with a guy because he thought I was snatching his girlfriend.I had no time for all those erotic relationships.I did not want to have any romantic relationship with anyone .Eddie graduated and I was so sad.He was a big brother to me.He supported me and made sure I never lacked anything in all areas. I combined studies with extra curricular activities and made sure I was not lacking in my academic work. I took extra extra classes in difficult courses and made sure I watch videos online to make sure i understood everything.Many professors would encourage me and applaud my efforts.Years went by and finally I was about completing school.I was not the best graduating student but then my grades never went down.I graduated with distinction and honor.My mother and sister came for the graduation and memories were made.
