I looked at Sam’s face with confusion.I could feel he was my source of hope.I also thought that maybe I should book a ticket back home.This could at least ease my burden and that of my family.I did not also want to give up.He then sat by me and asked me to confide in him. I told him everything that has happened.I told him every details of my life.I told him that I was ready to work harder to support myself for the meantime.He looked stunned.I could see he was touched by my story.He then encouraged me and asked me to sit there for a while.He then went inside the shop. I could feel some sort of relief and joy.I just needed a place to rest and sleep for a while .I wanted to do some menial job ,save the money and find a place of my own.He came out from the shop.“I wanted to talk to my boss to employ you but then he said there is no vacancy for the meantime.But as time goes on ,he might call you back.”,Sam said.He then went ahead and offered to accommodate me for the meantime while I find a job .I knelt down to thank him .He offered to buy my food and water while I wait for him to close from work.I sat on a bench across the street waiting for him.A lot of people were running around and rushing to catch the buses.Some people were also now coming to work.I wondered how they said thieves were around meanwhile people were going to shift and opening their shops in the evening. I was overwhelmed with everything and decided to talk to Sam when he closed.

I was somehow scared and wondered how Sam wanted to just help a complete stranger.I questioned myself and asked if he wanted to harm me.“Does he think I have gold in my bag ?”,I questioned myself.

“Hey ,Buddy let’s go!”,I slowly stood up before I could move,I couldn’t feel my bag and my left back pocket was opened.I couldn’t find my bag.I had all my clothes in it.It was left with my 30 dollars change,it was missing too.“Where are my items?I can’t find my money!”,I shouted.Sam smiled and winked at me."Welcome to Eston City!”He said aloud.It was obvious someone has stolen my items.I walked faster and with fear went to stand behind Sam to wait for the bus.I was so tired and needed to rest .The bus was finally in and we boarded it.We left the city center and headed outside to on slum area.It was the last stop.I looked back and signaled Sam to ask if we would alight here.He nodded.Wow,maybe we would take another bus to our destination.Well,that was what I thought but unfortunately no,it was his area where he lived.I was surprised to have seen something of that sort.I wasn’t a naive person but I never expected to see something like that in the city.There were ladies outside walking half naked some were even naked.Others had boldly written that they were prostitutes and could offer you good sex.I saw most of the men smoking and harassing these girls.Many of the girls approached me but I gave them an eye warning.The place looked dirty and smelly,I couldn’t stand the stench and nearly threw up.I walked hurriedly behind Sam ,so that I could find my way in case he was not around.We walked a few minutes and later got to a wooden structure made as a house.He then opened the door and we got inside.He welcomed me and gave a cup of water to drink as a sign of his acceptability to his home.I drank it and thanked him.I looked around and saw how neat the room was despite it not having major appliances or furnitures.The bed was on the floor but then he had a sofa .He then lectured me about the city,his area,the people and everything I needed to know.He asked me to stay away from trouble and not to indulge or engage myself with anything and anyone in the area.He told me after several years of living in Eston,this was one area which is affordable but has recorded high crimes in the country.I then asked him the name of the area. He responded,“This area is the popular Suncity!”

It was a hub for criminals such as robbers,addicts and even prostitutes.I was scared but happy that I wasn’t spending the night on the streets. I asked him how the city was scary but then people were still going to work and opening shops in the evening.He laughed. “Welcome to Eston city,where people have to hustle and break rules to make ends meet.I was so scared when I came here but then despite everything,I have survived and gotten used to the place. I also have a masters degree and came to this vibrant city to work.I printed out my CV with my degree in search of jobs but then it was futile.I was determined to make it but then after weeks and months,I gave up.The system here favours the rich and it would remain like that.I had the skills ,the credentials and experience but I never got the job.I have stood in rain,wept and worked several shifts just to save money and care for myself.I never had a guardian all my life and had fend for myself all alone.You can make it buddy,the moment I saw you printing your CV,I felt it within me.You can really make and definitively you will.Tomorrow,we would wake up early and go to the city center.Send your CV to the restaurant and shopping mall including the retail ones.You can start from there and later plan ahead.”

I was determined and wondered how people liked me from a distance.First,I met Eddie and now Sam.I was so thankful to have met these people because at some crucial point in my life,they made it easy.I then remembered how I have lost Eddie’s contact and I prayed he had made it in life.
