I was so determined to make it.Early the next dawn, we woke up and took our bath.Sam was kind enough and offered me his clothes.I wore them and said my prayers.I waited to Sam had prepared and we both set out.He made sure he had locked the door and everything was in check.He greeted one old man and turned to me.“This is our landlord and she has three beautiful daughters ”,he said and smiled.I was twenty three and had never had a girlfriend before and not ready to be in .I could see Sam was interested in one of her daughters.I then greeted him.Sam introduced me to him .The man wished as well and waved goodbye to us.I saw Sam stretchinglz so his neck to look through the windows but then didn’t know why .We hurriedly rushed to the bus stop and waited for the bus.After few seconds,the bus arrived and we boarded it.After several minutes,we were at the city center.I escorted Sam to his workplace and make sure I noticed it very well.I also made sure I got his contact on paper and also their closing time.I folded the paper in my pocket and with my CV in my envelope bid him goodbye.He wished me good luck and then I started my job hunting.This time around I was targeting menial jobs and customer service or support jobs.I want to restaurant,retail, individual shops and also joined long queues.I visited one fast food restaurant and upon reaching there,I saw one staff packing his items and fuming outside with anger.I decided to try my luck there .Upon getting there,I could tense that a scene had already happened .I greeted the staff available and asked if I could get a job.They directed me the manager’s office.I knocked and waited till I was called inside.After few minutes of waiting,I was called inside.The man looked up and watched me from head to toe.I could see he was scanning through my whole body.He had a scary look and you could see his presence caused fear.He had an authoritative attitude.He smiled for a second and went back to frowning.I pulled the chair to sit down.“Who asked you sit!”He shouted.I quickly stood up.I apologized and maintained composure.I was scared but then I knew such jobs have a requirement such as working under pressure.“Are you going to have the interview while sitting?Are you dumb?Sit down!”,he said.I was so confused and didn’t know what to do.I sat and prayed in my mind.We began the interview,you could feel the tension in the room.I answered every question and I was asked to stand outside for a while.While outside,I noticed a beautiful lady entered the room.She was tall,pretty and had nice legs.My heart skipped a beat.She smelled so good.He looked at me and said,“Hello,is Mr.Smith around?”

She didn’t even wait for me to answer and she rushed inside.After several minutes of standing outside,the lady called me inside.She had gone to the balcony.I was offered the role as a cleaner and the manager asked me to start work the following day or as soon as possible. I kindly asked if I could know my around before I start work the next day.He agreed.I collected the appointment letter and uniform and then went outside.I wanted to start work the same day but I felt I needed to learn many things about the place and work.I saw one of the waitress who also recognized me.She took me to the employee area and asked me to wait till it was break time.I sat there and waited.It was midday and I still haven’t seen the lady who walked inside coming out. I could feel I had a soft spot for her.“Could this be love at first sight?Or I was just crushing on her?”

The waitress who offered to help me around brought me food. She asked me many questions to which I answered them to the best understanding.She should me around the place .She started from the kitchen,to the offices,the restaurant and many places.Later on,I was introduced to my fellow workers.We were five cleaners in all and I was the only male.I could see that they lady liked my appearance.Due to unemployment and hardship,I had lost sense of my physical appearance and how stunning I was .I was broke but fine.Even in uni,I was turning down love proposals.I made sure I was smiling to everyone and not make any wrong impression. The lady then asked me to wait at the employee area again.She lectured me about the manager’s attitude and when not to offend him.

“Our manager is a nice man.He is wealthy and is the owner’s son.Despite his looks he has found love in a pretty girl.She is a model and a great one at Eston.Everybody knows Annie May.She is the girlfriend of our manager.Everyone could see he really loves her.Anytime,they have any misunderstanding or issue you would see him disturbed and ready to pounce on anyone who offends him a little.While this morning was his sad one it turned to be a good and lucky one for you.He just fired the cleaner because he forgot to dress well.Apart from such days,he is a nice man.Just don’t cross paths with him on a bad note.”,the lady said.She then excused me.I nodded and pondered over everything.The love and feelings I had for the lady just appeared at once.I could not let my family and Sam down.Anna as I learned that was her name came out from the office.She looked at me and smiled.She asked me of my name and engaged me in little conversation.She congratulated me and went out.I saw the shock on everyone’s face and I was surprised too.The lady who showed me around called me and advised me about Annie.“She is not to be joked with”,she cautioned me.I even expressed how shocked I was when he complimented me.I took the advice in good faith and make a conscious effort not to be seen in her circle again.It was finally time for us to close. I asked a fellow worker’s phone to contact Sam.We agreed to meet at the bus stop.
