I was so exhausted and asked Sam if I could go to bed since the following day was my official day of work.I ironed my uniform and said good night to him.I slept off and woke up the next morning.Sam had a day off but went to escort me at the bus stop since I was still a newcomer.He made sure I had gotten all the information I needed to and also how to catch the bus in the evening.I was ready and willing to work harder to save money.The bus arrived as soon as we got there and I boarded it.I bade him goodbye and we set off.I arrived at the city center and went straight to my workplace.The restaurant I worked for was so popular.It was called Las Palmas Restaurant.I went to change my dress and wore my uniform.I went out and greeted my colleagues.We engaged in some small conversation and started work immediately.I cleaned the washrooms and started mopping the floor.I went to the kitchen and also cleaned it.I was assigned some of the offices too.I cleaned there thoroughly and made sure everywhere was squeaky clean.I went to the office and knocked on the door so that I could go in and work.I entered and saw some items on the table,I wanted to have a look at it but I didn’t want to also be an inquisitive.I was about to leave when the card fell on the ground.I took it and read it.The card said,“May,I’m really sorry for yesterday.Can you forgive me once again and let’s make things work out.”I saw many packages on the table such as cake,money,dresses and shoes.You could see the things were expensive.I excused myself and got out of the room.I went to the employee area to rest.I then remembered how the manager was furious and behaving that way yesterday.They had fought before I entered the office.I dozed off .The waitress who assisted me woke me up.“Allen,it’s break time.Come get your food.”,she said.I woke up and got to the kitchen area where I was served.I went to get water and made way to the dining area to eat.After eating,I went to the sitting area.As a cleaner,I had much time to rest because I was only called when many customers are done eating and the place looked messy.I wanted to get an extra job so that I could run from place to place.This would help me get extra cash but then I couldn’t find one.I didn’t also have a phone to entertain me.

I was about dozing off again,when one cleaner came to sit by me.She was a nice and friendly person.Earlier in the money,she would help me out to where I could get the equipment and items such as detergent to work.I was very grateful because she made my work easier for me.“Allen,are you bored or you do not like this place?”,she asked.I smiled and responded to her.“No,I do like this place.I’m just bored because there is not much to do.My phone got stolen on my first day in this city.I want to save my salary and then buy a new one.”,I responded.She was touched by my plight and expressed her support for me.She engaged in many conversations and told me a lot of stories which had happened at the workplace and also how to avoid problems over there.“By the way,my name is Aliya and you are my work buddy ”,she added.Aliya had a wonderful personality.She was bubbly and you would see her smiling no matter what the circumstances.We continued chatting till we were called to join the others at the hallway for a meeting.“Ugh ,we are going to sing and help the manager plead to Lady May again!”,she exclaimed.She looked around and watched behind her to make sure no one heard her.

We both laughed.

We headed to the hallway and we’re asked to wait for the saxophonist and the media people to arrive.We were asked to make everything to look like a surprise.We sang and waited for the manager to bring in Lady May.The saxophonist played a slow and melodious song,everywhere looked like a proposal but then no,it was an apology party.What was that?I had seen it happened in only movies but I didn’t know it existed.We sang and waited for five minutes.Lady May entered looking so nice and sophisticated as she walked in surprised.But was she really surprised?Well,we continued clapping.Cameras were everywhere clicking.She was a model and had to let people talk about her.The show must go on.We presented her gift while our manager read the note on the card aloud.I said to myself,so this is love.I saw Aliya making funny gestures and laughed quietly.Lady May gave me quick look .She glanced at me and made an eye contact with me.She then looked away.I was kind of scared.I didn’t know what she wanted from me.I could be hallucinating too.I didn’t want my manager’s trouble.I knew I would definitely face his wrath if he ever noticed anything.

After the party,we cleaned up and the everyone left.Aliya and I were assigned to clean up the mess while the other take charge of the eating area and kitchen.Aliya was happy because we could gossip before we closed for the day.We started cleaning and before we knew,we were done.I went to change into my dress at the dressing room.I said goodbye to Aliya and thanked her for making my day go smoothly for me.She had been a great work buddy indeed I went for my bag and log out from the employee’s book . I headed out.I heard someone called me and I turned to look.Can you guess him I saw.Yes!,it was Lady May.She asked of my name I was scared but then told her.She smiled at me and went back into her car and drove off.I stood still for five minutes .“Was she going to report me to the manager?Have I wronged her ?Did she have a wrong impression of me on the first day?”, I questioned myself.I composed myself and went straight to the bus station to pick a bus.What a great day indeed.
