That Evening, 8:34 PM - The Penthouse

Eva’s POV

I came home to an empty penthouse.

Cole’s office door was closed, light visible underneath. He was here but hiding. Just like I’d been hiding earlier.

We’re really nailing this whole “mature adults” thing.

I made myself dinner…leftovers from three days ago and ate alone at the counter. The silence was oppressive. The kind that made you hear every small sound. Every breath.
