Lorien POV

Lior stood like a statue, rigid and pale, and I couldn’t prise my stare away from him and the caravan of vehicles rounding the drive. His eyes were glassy; his usually warm skin carried a green tinge that made bile rise in my throat. He looked as if he might be sick.

My worry for him outstripped any dread about the guests arriving. Afraid of Rhael or not, I vowed I would never be alone with him again. Fear would not get to steer me this time.
