The Point of No Return

The day crawled by excruciating slowly.

Every minute felt like an hour and every hour felt like a lifetime. The keycard sat in my purse like a live grenade, waiting to explode everything I'd been holding together.

I went through the motions at work all while feeling like I was watching myself from outside my body.
