When The Fine Print Ruined Everything

I trailed after Xander to his study like a lost puppy, and the door shut behind us making the room to suddenly feel too small. Like all the air had been sucked out and replaced with this thick, suffocating tension.

I stood there, arms crossed, staring at the massive mahogany desk instead of looking at him. My eyes traced the wood grain like it was the most fascinating thing in the world. Anything to avoid those dark eyes that had seen too much of me last night.
