Samira and her mother reached home with a heavy heart. The air in the house felt silent, like even the walls were listening. They both didn’t know what to think about Lucian’s proposal. Samira herself didn’t have any feelings for Sam, but at the same time she didn’t have any strong feelings for Lucian also. Her mind was blank. Only one thing she was clear—whatever happens, she will never accept Sam in her life. She already saw his true face, his betrayal, his lies. That wound inside her heart was too deep to forgive.
But when she thought of Lucian, her heart didn’t burn the same way. He was different. He asked straight what he wanted, not like Sam who played double game. Lucian told about his allergy problem openly, the reason he chose her. Samira thought in her mind, “If he was bad, he could give money and later force me. But he didn’t do like that. Before helping, he asked me directly. So maybe he is a good man.”
She was lost in these thoughts when suddenly her mother came inside the room. Her soft hands touched Samira’s shoulder, and Samira jumped a little, coming back from her deep thoughts. She quickly put a smile on her face and looked at her mother.
“What mummy? I feel hungry. Come, let’s go and eat,” she said, trying to change the topic.
But her mother was not fooled. She sat on the bed and looked at Samira seriously.
“Sami, don’t change the topic. I need to talk to you,” she said firmly.
Samira’s heart tightened. She knew this moment will come. She couldn’t run away. With slow voice she said,
“Ok mummy, tell me. I will listen.”
Her mother took a deep breath. “Yes Selvi, I have many things in my heart. Today you must answer me truly.”
Samira hesitated, then held her mother’s hand. She thought, Whatever happens, I must tell her at least half truth.
“Mom, I decided something. Can you agree?”
Her mother’s eyes became wide. Fear is already running inside her heart. “Please Sami, don’t tell me you are ready to marry that man,” she said with a trembling voice.
Samira lowered her eyes. “Sorry mummy… but that is my decision. You have to accept it.”
Her mother’s heart broke. She shook her head. “No way. Sam loves you so much. Your dad also agreed for your marriage with him. He only told Sam to wait until you achieve your dreams. Why do you suddenly change like this? Sam is innocent, he helped us a lot. He promised to arrange money also. How can you leave him like this?” She spoke fast, her voice full of pain.
Samira felt her throat choke. She wanted to scream, Sam is not innocent! But she couldn’t. If she told the truth, she must reveal that black night, the betrayal of Sam and Lyra, and what happened to her body. She couldn’t bring that shame to her mother’s heart. So she decided to hide everything.
She forced herself to speak calm. “Okay mummy, you believe Sam. But I don’t know if he really can arrange money. Time is short. Mr. Lucian is ready to help us now. I also have my dreams, mom. He said he will support me in acting career. I didn’t promise Sam that I will marry him. Dad only told after I achieve my dream we can see. So this is the best decision,” she said slowly, her voice shaking.
Her mother’s eyes filled with tears. “But you love Sam,” she whispered.
Samira closed her eyes for a moment, then opened with pain. “Yes mummy… I loved him. But some things… I can’t tell you. Please trust me. I am not cheating anyone. I observed Sam and Lyra. There is something between them. They fooled me. I don’t want to stay blind. Please trust me. Your daughter is not wrong.”
Her mother’s lips shivered. For a long minute she just looked at Samira’s face. Then finally she sighed and nodded. “Ok Sami. If you really believe, I will not stop you. I am happy if you are happy. But still… I have fear.”
Samira held her hand tightly. “What fear, mummy?”
Her mother’s eyes became wet. “That man’s family is too rich. We are very poor. Their lifestyle, behavior, everything is different. In big houses, people don’t love like us. They think of money, business, respect only. And one more… In such top families, always there is fight for power, for the heir. Business means enemies, always guards, always fear. You are like a free bird, my daughter. You will not like cage life. That’s why I worry.”
Samira listened quietly. Yes, she also had the same fear. But something in Lucian’s eyes told her another story. His voice, his honesty, his direct way—it touched her heart in a strange way. She didn’t feel love, but she felt respect. She thought, Maybe this is a safe choice. After Sam’s betrayal, what else can I do?
That night Lucian also couldn’t sit calm. He walked here and there in his villa, talking to himself. “Will she agree? Or will she say no? I don’t know. But I need her. I can’t lose her. This girl… she is small, but why do I feel scared of her answer? I have closed billion-dollar deals, but my heart is beating for one small girl.” His voice cracked. For the first time in life, Lucian felt powerless.
Meanwhile, Sam and Lyra sat in a corner of the hotel bar. Their faces are full of anger and worry. “Our plan is slipping,” Sam muttered. Lyra leaned close and whispered, “Don’t worry darling. We will make another plan. We can again push her into a trap, take her to a hotel, meet that man. She cannot escape from us.” Their evil smiles joined in the dim light.
But far away, Samira sat near the window of her room, staring at the dark sky. She thought of everything Sam’s betrayal, Lucian’s words, her mother’s fears, her father’s dreams. Tears rolled down silently. Her hand touched her own heart.
“I don’t love him… but maybe he is not bad. Maybe he is the only way to save our life,” she whispered to herself.
The night carried both fear and hope, like two shadows dancing together.
