Desmond's heart went heavy and thumped loud the moment he heard a female voice. He didn't have time to experience realization, his head was reaching the mud and soon, he would be completely swallowed. He decided to send one last message by scent. So that when his family comes searching for him, they would detect his scent in figment forest. With the little speed he had left, Desmond began to drop saliva all over where he sank. 

Renee cackled, “ And what do you think you're doing? “

“ If I die, let my people at least know where to find my body. “ 

“ That is if they venture inside this forest, “ 

“ But we did. “

“ Now, look at what is happening to you. “

Desmond positioned his sight on the female white wolf. Her voice was icy, silver-steel-sharp and cold. “ Are you just going to stand there and watch me sink to death? “ 

“ Yes. “ 

“ Why? “ He struggled to ask. 

“ You will find out after you perish. “ 

With that being said, Desmond finally sank. The mudpit swallowed his head and he disappeared from sight. Renee felt a surge of satisfaction travel from within her, she smiled wholesomely. 

“ Finally, he is dead! “ Her nasty cackle after Desmond sank sang through the frigid air as if she was a frozen witch. She had succeeded in killing another thane, she had won. Just as she was about to turn her back and disappear, something very strange happened. 

Renee's heartbeat doubled. She could hear another heartbeat throb inside her chest, along with her own. The new heartbeat that appeared was heavy that it weighed her down to the ground. And with every beat, embodied a strong hit that weakened her muscles and sent her hard headaches. Renee was in pain as she fell to her knees. Soon, the heartbeat got heavier and slower, it was thudding like a herd of rhinos running past a desert. 

“ Ahhrgg! “ renee was on the bare ground and crying in pain as she could not understand what was happening to her. As though the bizarre pain wasn't enough, she heard a piercing sound. It was a sound so sharp and primal that it made her bleed through her ears. Renee was loosing both breath and stability. She was close to releasing a howl, but what were the possibility that she would contact one of her pack members? She was still being chased by Jacob thane, what if his people reaches her first. And to make matters worse, she had just led Desmond thane to an early death. She decided not to howl, but she would summon enough energy to transform back. But before she could transform, she had gotten weak from the heavy heartbeat drawing her strength. Renee felt face first to the ground and went unconcious. During her physical state of unconsciousness, she had a spirit vision. She saw herself in that same spot, crumbled to the ground and a male wolf knelt in front of her. A lightening bolt stood in between both of them, triggering a manifestation of a powerful storm. Renee was able to lift her head, she caught the sight of the wolf, she discovered him to be same wolf that she just sank in a mudpit, Desmond thane. The face of the wolf transformed to human while the entire body remained in wolf form. Desmond howled so loud that it almost tore her face apart. He bent directly opposite her head and began to speak in a tongue that she did not recognize. 

“ Mnemosyne nos utrumque circumscribit “ His eyes turned green and he touched forehead to forehead with her and his entire body dissipated into a gush of wind and entered inside of her. Her eyes opened in the physical state and a different energy surged inside her. It was a foreign, masculine energy. When it reached her insides, it summoned her to an immediate stand. The heartbeat no longer made her weak, but it heightened her conscious state. Her senses were sharp, still and calculated. 

Renee was fueled by an unknown force that she couldn't control and she did the unthinkable. Jumping from where she stood, she launched herself on a giant tree above the mudpit that Desmond sunk. She tightened her foot on the branch and sent herself down. Renee dug her hands inside the pit and fetched Desmond from the ruins of the pit. The strange manifestation gave her power and might to lift Desmond body. She carried him and jumped back to the ground, landing safely with a loud thud.
