Let's divorce

Astrid's POV

I slowly looked up to see Ana staring at me, she suddenly pushed me away and, I landed hard on my butt.

“You just ruined my expensive outfit!” She yelled again.

“I…I…I'm so sorry, it was a mistake.”

“You bloody idiot!” My mother-in-law suddenly pulled me up and slapped me again.

“Do you want to kill her because she's pregnant? Are you planning to kill my unborn grandchild by drowning him?” I was trembling as I stood in fear, the worst pain that has ever existed suddenly hit me, and I groaned out in pain.

“Please…please…” My mother-in-law only pushed me.

“Stop pretending to hurt you, idiot!”

I looked up at Logan; I was desperate; I needed someone to stand up for me, and he was the only one who could, but now…

“Sort your shit out!” He muttered, and I looked away, devastated. The other man in the room suddenly started laughing; I felt so embarrassed…

“Am I going to be putting up with all these?” I asked, almost biting my tongue.

“What did you just say?” Logan's mother asked.

“Am I going to keep living like this, Logan?” I looked at Logan, who nodded casually.

“Get out; you're embarrassing my family in front of these noble faces…” he said, and I nodded. I tried to stand up so I could go upstairs, but my legs failed me, so I started crawling up; the others laughed behind me as I crawled my way up to my room.

As I got to my room, I weakly picked up my phone and dialed my friend's number. She picked up at the first ring, and I couldn't say anything but cry.

“Baby girl, did he beat you up again, or is it his mother this time?” Clara asked.

“He's gotten his girlfriend pregnant; now I'm worse than a side stool… They're eventually going to kill me if I don't do something.” I cried. I could hear her sigh on the other side.

“Why don't you just call it quits already?” I breathed at her question.

“Yes, because the marriage was a contract, to begin with, and the deal ended a long time ago; I don't know what you're still doing there…” I blinked.

Of course, the contract ended two years ago, but at that time, I threw away my professionalism since I was already insanely in love with him, and he was treating me normally, unlike now.

“Look, I know you love him, right, but this thing you're doing, it won't end well… I'll come see you tomorrow, ok?” She nodded as if she could see me. We disconnected the call, and I crawled to my dressing table, where a first aid kit was. I slowly began treating my wounds.

“Should I do as Clara said? I don't think Logan can change his mind about me ever again…especially now that his girlfriend is pregnant, I'm just a side stool, a contracted bride.”

I was done with the wounds, so I started undressing myself, but a paper fell from my pocket; I slowly picked it up; it was the one given to me by the doctor. I slowly opened it to see it was a pregnancy test result…

“Wait, I'm positive!” My hands trembled.

***

I alighted from the car and walked into the hospital. I came to see the doctor who attended to me yesterday because I still do not want to believe that I was pregnant with Logan's child…

“Good morning, ma'am, who are you here to meet?” the nurse at the lobby asked.

“Hmm, there's a doctor who attended to me yesterday when I was brought here…” I was trying to remember the doctor's name, but I didn't see his name at first, not to mention memorizing the name. I brought out the pregnancy test, hoping to see his name there, but his name wasn't there.

“Hmm…I'll just take a pregnancy test,” I said, and she smiled and ordered a nurse to escort me to an office. When we got there, I met with another doctor, and he asked a nurse to draw out some of my blood.

***

A few minutes later, the nurse returned with an envelope and handed it to the doctor before leaving. The doctor opened the envelope and read the contents, he looked up with a smile.

“Congratulations, ma'am, you're six weeks pregnant…” I nodded, now convinced that I was pregnant.

“Thank you…” I collected the results, bowed slightly, and left.

As I drove to the office, my mind started wandering far and wide. What do I do now? I'm pregnant with Logan, who sees me as trash right now; what do I do? Should I talk to him about it?...yes! Maybe I should talk to him about it, he might change his mind and treat me better.

I stepped on my accelerator and the speed at which I was driving increased. I was still driving when I received a message. I parked my car safely before opening the message; it was from my father.

How are you doing, daughter? I just wanted to reach out; it's been a long time.

I sighed as I read the message…

“Dad, I miss you…” I parked my car and walked into the company. As I got to my office, I saw through the glass wall that Logan and Anastasia were at it again. I walked to the door and knocked, but they didn't pay any attention to me, so I walked in.

“Couldn't you wait?!” Anastasia asked, but I ignored her and faced Logan.

“Babe, I have something to tell you…” both of them laughed at my words, making me confused.

“Babe?” Logan asked, and I nodded shyly.

“We're still married regardless of whatever happened.” I smiled.

“Let me remind you in case you're forgetting something. Our marriage was a contract, and now I have a real family…just stay back, stay peacefully in this marriage, ok?”

“But I'm pregnant!” I said, but it only made them laugh more.

“That’s it, get out!” Logan yelled, not minding what I just said.

“But…”

“Security, come take this bitch out of here.” Anastasia screamed into the telephone, and not long after, two strong men came in.

“Logan, listen to me…” I pleaded, but he looked me dead in the eye and said,

“You don't belong here.”

I struggled to free myself from the men's grips, but they were too strong for me.

“Let me go! Don't you dare pull me out; this is my husband's office!” I continued trying to fight myself free from the men pulling me out of the office.

“Stop fighting already…” Ana laughed as Logan came up behind her, his arm snaked around her waist, and I watched in bitterness.

“Look… Astrid, you were a convenience, and I'm done pretending to have something for you too; this pregnancy trick wouldn't work for me…just go, leave peacefully,” he said, and that was when I realized it: pregnant or not, he would never accept me…

My throat was sore, and I didn't want to fight it anymore, at least for the sake of my dignity. A tear slipped from my eye as I finally broke free from the men.

“Fine… Since you don't want this marriage anymore, let's divorce!”

“What?!” His pupils seemed to dilate.
